I installed a toilet “Wrappon” that does not require post-processing in a camper! |MOBY [モビー]

MOBY introduces an article written by a writer who actually enjoys staying in the car and camping car from the web magazine DRIMO, which distributes outdoor and car travel information such as camping, staying in the car, van life, etc. To do. *The contents of the following article are quotes and references from DRIMO

When it comes to traveling by car, I can’t help but think about the toilet situation at the place where I stay in the car.

Depending on the facility, there are places where the toilet is far from the car overnight spot, so it’s hard to go to the toilet in the dark at night. In the cold season when it rains and snows, even going outside becomes a hassle.

On the other hand, cassette-type toilets and portable toilets have to be disposed of somewhere on long trips. In that case, it is necessary to stay at a facility with processing facilities.

In fact, we had a cassette toilet installed in our camper, but I felt inconvenient to dispose of it during the trip.

So, when I was looking for a toilet that didn’t need to be treated until I got home, I found a toilet called “Wrappon” that doesn’t need post-treatment.

I decided to make a small renovation of the toilet room and installed a wrappon, and this is a very easy and excellent toilet!

We will introduce you to how to use it and how to reform it, so please refer to it.

What is a camper toilet in the first place?

There are mainly two types of camper toilets: portable toilets that can be carried around and cassette-type toilets that are permanently installed in campers.

In both types, after using the toilet, a chemical for deodorizing the waste is placed in the tank and flushed with water.Relatively inexpensive because it is treated with chemicals and waterThat’s the advantage.

In the case of imported campers, cassette-type toilets are often standard equipment, but in domestic campers where multi-room specifications without toilets are popular, there are many patterns that are installed as options.

When the black tank that collects waste becomes full, it becomes necessary to dispose of it.

At the RV park in Kamogawa where I stayed before, there was a black tank automatic washing machine that washes just by setting it and pressing a switch.

However, there are only a limited number of places that have such equipment, and it is common to find a facility that can dispose of it and treat it yourself, other than flushing it in the toilet at home.

What is Wrappon?

Wrappon is a special deodorant and antibacterial film.A portable toilet that automatically wraps (individually wraps) excrement each time.About.

Since the film is tightly sealed by thermocompression bonding,No odor leaks out.In addition, since water is not used, post-processing work is also reduced.

the film is50 treatments per rollis possible.

In addition, since polyethylene material is used for the special deodorant film, it does not generate harmful gas even if it is incinerated. You can dispose of them as diapers after you take them home.

Even in paid facilities such as RV parks, if you can throw away diapers, you can basically throw away this wrapped waste bag (it varies depending on the facility, so please check).

Unlike cassette-type toilets,Can be used without worrying about where to processis quite helpful, isn’t it?

By the way, the size of the wrappon toilet (Trekker WT-4) that my family uses is width: 39cm, height: 40cm, depth: 46cm.

How wrappon works and how to handle it

I will explain how Wrappon works and how to handle it.

Although the explanationJust add the special coagulant, get up from the toilet seat, and press the wrapping button. That’s really it!

Press the switch to start the countdown (starting from 90 seconds).

Wrapping begins.

When the hole closes, the film is heat-sealed to seal the excrement.

After that, all you have to do is wait for a while for the voice guidance that the process is complete.

*It is strictly prohibited to put foreign objects in the product.(I did this at my own risk).

The wrapped bag20 cm circular shape with a thickness of 3 to 4 cm(It gets a little air).

Isn’t it more compact than you thought?

By the way, I used a denim bag for this demo. Although it is this color, it is not very transparent from the bag.

Looking at the bag after processing, the film is firmly welded by heat.

It seems that odors and bacteria may leak out if stored for a long time, so it is better to dispose of it early, but in extreme cases, as long as there is space to keep the bag in the car, you can use the wrap-pon toilet.

In fact, even after being stored in the car for about two weeks, the odor did not leak at all.

wrappon cost

Generally speaking, the cost of introducing Wrappon is as follows.

・Wrappon body (Trekker WT-4): 176,000 yen (tax included)
・Consumables B type for wrap pong 50 times (film roll + exclusive coagulant (catamel polymer) + wet tissue): 6,270 yen (tax included)

Considering the price difference when installing a cassette toilet as an option, I think it is not so expensive. However, if the car is equipped with a cassette toilet as standard equipment, you may feel that this additional amount is expensive.

I hope you can make a decision after considering the usage and merits mentioned above.

Installation of wrappon

Our camper was equipped with a cassette toilet as standard equipment in the shower room.

However, I always go to hot springs when I go out, so I don’t have a chance to use the shower, and I don’t plan to use the cassette-type toilet in the future, so I decided to install a wrappon here.

Removal of unnecessary parts in the shower room

The place to install it has been decided, but when it comes to installing it, it will not be easy.

First of all, the shower room had to be widened in order to have enough space.

So I decided to remove the sink. I removed the bathroom and slide rail and installed an end cap on the drain pipe.

Now you have enough space to sit on the lap pong.

By the way, when I removed the drainage pipe, there was a large hole in the wall, so I pasted a brick-like wallpaper.

Before removal, the washbasin and slide rails were in the way, but after removal, there was more space.

Install a shelf on top of the cassette toilet

I don’t plan to use the cassette toilet in the future. After thinking that I could not use it effectively, I installed a shelf above the toilet.

The three-tiered white shelf in the foreground in the photo was purchased at a home center. It is fixed using strong double-sided tape and cable ties.

In addition, three trays purchased from MUJI are stacked on top of each other in the washing switch part near the wall.

In the dead space next to the toilet, we also set up a box for waste that was sealed with a plastic wrap.

power supply for rappon

The next issue is the power supply for Wrappon.

There was a 100V outlet on the ceiling of the shower room, so I extended the power supply from that outlet with a table tap.

By the way, the wrappon toilet was devised for the disaster area,Works with 12VTo do.

Based on our experience with the Great East Japan Earthquake, we have also prepared a cigarette lighter power supply cable that can supply power from a regular car in the event of a disaster.

Also, by all meansIf you can’t secure a power supply, you can drive with a mobile battery.

The fact that it supports various power sources is also an excellent point of Wrappon.

When the wrappon is not in use, it can be used as a stacking platform for luggage.

Since the space of the camper is limited, it feels a little wasteful to use it only as a toilet space.

Wrap Pong (Trekker WT-4) closes the lid and putsHolds up to 150kg without moving.

When the wrappon is not in use, I removed the top plate from Nitori’s folding table (1,190 yen) and put it on the lid so that it can be used as a storage space.

If you just put the top plate, it will move, so put a cork (100 yen coaster) on the top plate to prevent it from slipping.

With this, you can effectively use the space above the wrappon, which is a dead space.

By the way, I fixed the legs using erector pipes.

summary

The reason why I installed the wrappon this time is because I wanted to do something about the inconvenience of having to clean up after using the toilet.

I think some people are used to cassette-type toilets and don’t mind it, but even so, I think they usually feel the trouble of post-processing.

In that respect, RapponOne switch for post-processingSo it’s very easy.No need to worry about odors. If the car model has a multi-room,Easy installation by simply securing the power supply and simply fixing it.I can do it.

As a facility to make your car trip more comfortable, why not consider introducing it while comparing it with your own travel style?
