About the new Swift full model change
The exterior is a keep concept, but adopts a more sophisticated design. The interior adopts the audio display and navigation main instrument panel that are currently used in many car models. The platform adopts a new platform “HEARTECT” that achieves both light weight and high rigidity like the old model of the 4th generation. As for the engine, the “Swift” is equipped with a “inline 4-cylinder 1.2L dual jet naturally aspirated direct injection engine + motor” mild hybrid similar to the old model of the 4th generation. “9 inch display audio” is adopted. USB power socket[Type-A / Type-C]is standard equipment on all models, “Nanoe X equipped fully automatic air conditioner” Connected service “suzuki connect” is adopted.Active cruise control (with full-speed follow-up function)newly adopted.
The new “dual sensor brake support” is adopted as safety equipment. Equipped with “rear start prevention function”, “rear parking sensor”, “lane departure prevention function”, “sign recognition function road sign assist (RSA)” and “blind spot monitor (BSM)”. “Adaptive cruise control (with all vehicle speed tracking function)” with a following function at all vehicle speeds is standard equipment. A system that detects the front with two types of sensors, a monocular camera installed on the windshield and a laser radar, is adopted. It corresponds to the “Safety Support Car S Wide” of the “safety support car” promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the “collision damage mitigation brake (AEBS) certified car” by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

New Swift Dual Camera Brake Support
Dual camera brake supportadopted. A stereo camera system equipped with two cameras is used for the collision damage mitigation brake. Corresponds to “wide” of “safety support car S (common name: support car S)”.
Forward collision warning functionThe stereo camera detects vehicles and pedestrians ahead while driving at speeds between 5km/h and 100km/h. A function that issues a warning with a buzzer sound and display in the meter when it determines that there is a possibility of a collision. Detect pedestrians at night.
Forward collision warning brake functionWhen the possibility of a collision increases, the system automatically activates weak brakes in addition to an alarm to prompt the driver to avoid a collision.
Forward Collision Mitigation Brake Assist FunctionAfter determining that there is a high possibility of a collision, if the driver steps on the brakes strongly, Brake Assist is activated to increase the braking force.
automatic braking functionIf a collision is determined to be unavoidable, the system automatically applies strong brakes to avoid the collision or reduce the damage caused by the collision.
Accidental start prevention functionContributes to avoiding collisions due to pedal or shift operation errors, and detects obstacles within about 4m in front with a stereo camera. This function automatically suppresses engine output to prevent sudden starts and accelerations when the accelerator pedal is pressed hard despite an obstacle while the vehicle is stopped or traveling at a speed of approximately 10 km/h or less. Automatically suppresses engine output for up to about 5 seconds.
Lane departure warning functionWhen the vehicle is about to stray from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light inside the meter warns the driver. While driving at about 60km/h to about 100km/h, the stereo camera recognizes the left and right lane markings. A function that alerts the driver with a buzzer sound and an indicator light in the meter when it determines that the vehicle is deviating from the lane.
Wobbling alarm functionIf the vehicle meanders, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter warns. If the stereo camera judges that the vehicle is swaying from the meandering pattern in the lane while driving at about 60km/h to about 100km/h, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light appears. A function that alerts the driver with an indicator light inside the meter.
Preceding vehicle departure notification functionNotifies the driver of the departure of the preceding vehicle with a buzzer sound and display in the meter When the vehicle is stopped, if the vehicle continues to stop even after the vehicle ahead has moved away from the vehicle by approximately 4m or more, the driver will be alerted by a buzzer sound and display in the meter. A function that notifies you that the preceding vehicle has started.
Road Sign Assist (RSA)A system that displays road signs detected by the front camera on the multi-information display.
Reverse erroneous start suppression functionIf four ultrasonic sensors built into the rear bumper detect an obstacle behind the vehicle, it automatically activates the brakes.
Reverse brake supportIf four ultrasonic sensors built into the rear bumper detect an obstacle behind the vehicle, it automatically activates the brakes. Camera package for omnidirectional monitor (Omnidirectional package, manufacturer’s option for vehicles equipped with omnidirectional monitor camera package) Cameras are installed in four locations on the front, rear, left, and right of the vehicle. If you install a compatible navigation system (dealer-equipped accessory), it will be an “omnidirectional monitor” that displays a bird’s-eye view of the car from directly above. The screen allows the driver to check areas that are difficult to see from the driver’s seat, contributing to parking in tight spaces.
high beam assistA stereo camera detects the brightness of the headlights of oncoming vehicles and automatically switches between high beam and low beam. As a result, it is possible to drive with high beams without switching operations, and it is possible to drive at night with peace of mind even on roads with few street lights.
Adaptive cruise control (ACC) (with full-speed follow-up function)When the ACC switch on the steering wheel is pressed, the distance to the vehicle ahead is measured using a millimeter-wave radar, and the vehicle automatically accelerates and decelerates while maintaining the distance between the vehicles. The distance between vehicles can be set in 3 stages (short, medium, long). If there is no preceding vehicle, the vehicle maintains the preset speed (following all vehicle speeds).
Camera package for omnidirectional monitor (manufacturer’s option for vehicles equipped with safety package and omnidirectional monitor camera package)Cameras are installed in four places on the front, back, left and right of the car. If you install a compatible navigation system (equipment provided by the dealer), it becomes an “omnidirectional monitor” that displays a bird’s-eye view of the car from directly above. The screen also allows the driver to check areas that are difficult to see from the driver’s seat, contributing to parking in tight spaces.
Sign recognition function (manufacturer option)While driving, the road signs recognized by the stereo camera are displayed on the multi-information display in the meter at the appropriate timing. Corresponds to “maximum speed”, “prohibition of overrunning”, “auxiliary sign”, “stop”, and “vehicle entry prohibited”.
Head-up display (manufacturer option)Vehicle speed, shift position and warnings are displayed in color on the dashboard in front of the driver’s seat. Since the necessary information can be displayed in the line of sight of the driver while driving, the line of sight movement and focus adjustment are reduced, which is useful for safe driving.

Hybrid (48V hybrid system)
The European models of “Exud”, “S-Cross” and “Swift Sport” will be released in March 2020. The new hybrid system equipped with it is adopted in the Japanese model “Swift Sport”. This hybrid (mild hybrid) achieves up to 20% reduction in CO2 emissions, increased torque, and 15% improvement in fuel efficiency in the WLTP combined cycle. Equipped with an improved version, the new K14D Boosterjet engine 1.4L in-line 4-cylinder direct injection turbo. The newly developed powertrain is very light in design, with a weight gain of less than 15kg. It consists of a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, a starter generator (ISG), and a 48V-12V converter.
The ISG assists the petrol engine with belt drive, additional torque from lowdown, delivering 173 lb-ft (235 Nm) from 2,000 rpm. The battery and converter unit are located under the front seats for better weight distribution. A 48V self-charging hybrid system runs EV-only at city speeds below 10 mph (16 km/h), further improving fuel consumption.
