Nissan & Mitsubishi unveil new light EV for the first time
On May 20, 2022, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and NMKV, a joint venture between the two companies, held an offline ceremony for the new mini EVs “Nissan Sakura” and “Mitsubishi eK Cross EV.”
Sakura and eK Cross EV will be mini vehicle standard electric vehicles that combine Nissan’s advanced technology and Mitsubishi’s mini vehicle development know-how based on planning and development management by NMKV.
Mizushima Seisakusho, where the offline ceremony was held, is the Mitsubishi plant where the light EV announced this time is produced, and has a track record of producing mass-produced electric vehicles such as the “I-MiEV” and “Minicab-MiEV.”
The light EV has a sufficient cruising range for daily use and an affordable price setting, while the powerful driving performance, quietness, and comfort of a BEV (battery-powered EV), as well as advanced automatic driving support functions and connections. It also has ted technology.
